2.     Opioids

Examples: Opium, Morphine, Heroin, Codeine, Pethidine, Methadone.

Pleasurable Effects: Intense pleasure, Feeling of relaxation, Analgesia, Euphoria.

Toxic and Adverse Effects: Apathy, Dysphoria, Anorexia, Agitation, Slurred speech, Drowsiness and coma, Lack of sexual desire.

Withdrawal Symptoms: Craving, Nausea, Vomiting, Muscular aches, Lacrimation, Rhinorrhoea, Piloerection, Fever, Sweating, Insomnia, Yawning.
